Malama Kauai: Aloha! My name is Christina Atkinson and I am from Kauai, the Garden Isle! I'm a 21 year old junior in college at University of Hawaii - Hilo, pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I have an 8 month old beautiful daughter. She was born with two congenital defects, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and a Clubbed Foot. The first six months of her life was filled with trips to Oahu, appointments with specialists, and tests, but I am happy to say that she is doing just fine! Needless to say, she is a huge part of my life. Additionally, I like to craft, read, cook, go to the beach, shop, and score good deals! Being thrifty runs in my family so I enjoy finding ways to save money. I love Kauai and all of its magnificence. I want my daughter to be able to enjoy the island in its current state when she is my age. I've chosen to do my project on the fragile eco-system of the island, invasive species, and waste management and recycling. I hope that while completing my project, an interest will be sparked in students that will make them genuinely care about Kauai. Malama Kauai! Enjoy.
